The Trinitas Chamber Ensemble, a creative performing arts group from St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada, will be giving select concerts in Iowa this July as part of the 2019 Cedar Valley Chamber Music festival series. Born from a desire to explore the fringe of standard classical chamber music and to present engaging, off-beat performances, Trinitas Chamber Ensemble consists of three outstanding musicians with a shared vision and infectious onstage chemistry. Accomplished soloists in their own right, the members of Trinitas have performed around the world, including in St. Petersburg (Russia), Llangollen (Wales), Uberlândia (Brazil), and Tegucigalpa (Honduras). Trinitas gave its premiere performance in Toronto in June of 2015, and since then has inspired rave audience reaction at venues in Washington DC, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Newfoundland. The program will consist of a compilation of music from their upcoming CD “Throwing Caution to the Wind” that is due out later in the year. Works include the strongly jazz-influenced trio by Ukrainian composer Nikolai Kapustin, and characterful and approachable trios by American Lowell Liebermann and Canadian David McIntyre. The Trinitas chamber ensemble consists of Michelle Cheramy (flute), Nathan Cook (cello), and Phil Roberts (piano). They make their home in St. John’s, Newfoundland where Michelle and Nathan are on faculty at Memorial University and where Phil teaches, performs, and is leading a piano revolution as the executive director of PlayPianoNL.
