“Lifespan” Book Discussion with Rex McKee

Would you like to live longer and healthier? Join our new Book Discussion group beginning on Thursday, June 1 at 6:00 in the Talen Community Room as we discuss the book “Lifespan: Why We Age – and Why We Don’t Have To” by David A Sinclair, PhD.

In this paradigm-shifting book from acclaimed Harvard Medical School doctor and one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people on earth, Dr. David Sinclair reveals that everything we think we know about ageing is wrong, and shares the surprising, scientifically-proven methods that can help readers live younger, longer.

For decades, the medical community has looked to a variety of reasons for why we age, and the consensus is that no one dies of old age; they die of age-related diseases. That's because ageing is not a disease – it is inevitable.
But what if everything you think you know about ageing is wrong?
What if ageing is a disease? And that disease is curable.

Rex McKee will lead this discussion, which will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. We have multiple copies of the book available at the library, so stop in and check out a copy if you are interested in learning how lifestyle changes can help us feel younger and stay healthier longer. This may change the way you think about ageing and what you can do about it.

English Paper Piecing

On Tuesday, June 20 at 1:30, Cathy McFarland will give a brief history of English Paper Piecing, then lead the class in making your own project to take home. English Paper Piecing involves stabilizing fabric pieces with paper. Once the shapes are wrapped and ready, the sewer will hand sew the shapes together one at a time until the shapes become an intricate design.

There will be a cost of $10 for each participant. You will each receive your own kit. Please contact the library to sign up for this interesting class!

Garden Walks

This summer we will once again be offering Garden Walks through local gardens.  The walks are a wonderful way to see what your neighbors are growing, share tips and techniques, and get ideas for your own gardens. All garden walks are on Wednesdays at 3:30.  You can meet at the library to ride together, or call the library for addresses and directions.

Our tentative schedule for 2023 garden walks is as follows:
