Summer Reading Program

The theme this year is "Reading Colors Your World"!" Join us at 10:00 on the first four Wednesdays of June 2021 for these special programs and speakers:

Wednesday June 2: Brendon Kelly From Tama County Conservation. You will get a close-up view of many colorful animals.

Wednesday June 9: Jenny Hulme from Tama County Extension and 4-H will read a story, present science experiments with color, and have a craft to enjoy.

Wednesday June 16: This program is provided by the East Central Iowa Council of Governments and sponsored by the Tama County Solid Waste Disposal Commission.  Come and enjoy the story "Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast". Learn about food waste and the impact it has on our environment.

Wednesday June 23: Retrieving Freedom. Keegan Birkicht and Trent Dirks with his dog "Tracer" will share information about service dogs. You will learn about the benefits of service dogs and learn the proper etiquette around these special animals.

Summer Reading Challenge:

We have an exciting new Summer Reading Challenge for school-aged children to encourage them to read over the summer! Children get to set their own goals - we have several different goal sheets to choose from.  Your child can choose what will work best for them! When they sign up, they will also receive a book bag, pencil, bookmark, and may also choose a free book to keep! If your child meets the monthly goal they have set, they can bring their goal sheets to the library at 2:00 on June 30 and again on July 28, and we will all go have ice cream at Chillo Ice Cream and Eats and talk about the great books we've read!
